GT Edge Aluminium 1998

I think it was around the time of my bike or just after that they stopped making many of them in the USA which was a bit of a watershed for GT. GTs were sold in my local bike shop so I lusted after even a Timberline compared to the Raleigh Marauder I had!
I was comparing them to Konas, Ritcheys and Rockymountains BITD and thought that they were all flash and no substance. Then I got a used Zaskar frame. Didn't know they did road bikes until I picked up that edge aluminum. If a Ti one came across my path at a reasonable price I would probably have to buy it.

An update to this one as I found some nicer wheels and a fork that actually fits the frame. I do prefer the look of the Profile Designs fork but the steerer wasn’t long enough - something I had forgotten about until I went to use the bike last year, it was hanging in via the stem converter!

I had seen these Ksyriums with the red hubs and spoke nipples and thought they’d go with the frame, it just about works although slightly different colour red. They are a big step up from the Aksiums that were on there.

If I’m honest and as you can probably see from the stem/bar position the frame is a tiny bit small for me, ideally I need a 60cm and this is a 58cm. Doesn’t matter too much as I don’t do more than about 20 miles on this.

Looking forward to getting out on this again soon, it’s a super fast ride!

Had a bit of an oopsie in the garage, knocked a wheel off a hook and it put a ding in the top tube. I’m hoping to keep it covered with the bike equivalent of a blemish plaster.

At the right price I’d be interested in a 60cm of any of these. I think I’ll be waiting a long time, perfect would be another red one.
