GT but not sure which

Yes, there are several polished Panteras around. But these were all wet painted originally. Maybe this was a method by GT to minimise the competition within the lineup.

I admit, the silver paintjob with blue decals looks a bit like the polished Zaskar. But if you look closely, you will see it is not polished/ball-burnished non-painted aluminium but a matt silver paint.

By the way, the "H" in the Serial number stands for Hodaka (=Company in Taiwan)

Re:

Guys
Thank you all so much for your replies and assistance on this.

Looking through other members modified rides and reading your attached threads etc it would appear that there's not much of the original bike left haha. In fact I think it's only the frame at the moment...!!!

What are your thoughts on returning it to original spec vs sticking with some of the mods that have been carried out. ie manitou forks, Ritchey wheels, LX groupset, club roost stem etc

Again, thanks for your help

It's up to your taste. As this is not a Zaskar, I would not invest too much.

Restoring it to stock would mean spending a lot on a paint job. Also you would have to find the rather rare original stem.

I would give it a nice polish and maybe find a cheap donor bike with a complete Deore DX or 735 XT if you want to ride the bike. Personally, I don't like cheap anodized parts, so I would get rid of those. The original stem or a Syncros would also be nice.

Nice bike. I would clean it and use it. By all means polish it - I bought one for my son with good intentions but have yet to polish it. Before you decide to spend any money on the frame e.g. powdercoat remember it doesn't have a replacement dropout.

You can apparently upgrade the brakes to Maguras with a bit of fiddling.

Re:

Thanks for all the replies folks, lots of really useful stuff and links

Still not sure which way to go so, meantime, I intend to completely strip and re-furb everything as is, whilst looking to check if I can source original parts and at what cost.

I would like to use on the trails as an alternative to my full bounce; equally I would love to use as street cruiser so... watch this space haha

Thanks again for all your help and suggestions
