GT Avalanche - identifying frame + seatpost/front mech size

Just taken delivery of a nice Avalanche frame ....3 questions:

(1) Is there any way of identifying or determining its age via its serial number ? KK1850684

(2) Also I read in another thread that Avalanches take a 27.2 seatpost - is this correct ?

(3) What size/bandwidth front mech am I after ?

My '98 frame is 100% a 27.2 seatpost.

Only way I knew this was '98 was by the colour/decals.

Thanks - that's one question sorted.....got no decals/stickers so the rest is still a mystery

Oh.. mine also has the integrated seat clamp, that was from '98 too I think.

Starting with a KK that is almost for sure a "Pacific era" Avalanche frame. Which would probably mean 27.2mm seat post and 31.8mm front derailleur....Awaiting your pictures
