grease.

Yeah when I said it would stay when you clean bike I meant just wetting with a hose or bucket and using a brush or cloth afterwards. Not using a pressure washer or anything like that, I wouldn't go that far on a bike. I just thought that this stuff might help to make servicing intervals a bit more apart. Instead of every 3-4 good dirty rides you might manage one or 2 more.
I suppose the only way to find out is to try it.
On the subject of grease though has just reminded me of a guy I used to ride with that used copper grease on all his moving parts! He was a cracker!
Anyway guys all the best for 2016 and hope it brings you all you hope and wish for. Looking forward to getting to a few rides and hopefully meeting some faces from on here this year. I think my age and fitness will make me look silly alongside a lot of you though!

Yeah, i new someone that used copper slip on his bike bearings too
And your grease should be lasting more than a couple of rides. Using components with good seals (argh-argh) and grease that doesn't thin out upon use helps. And I keep even hoses away from bearings :)
And best wishes for 2016 to you too Leigh
Where abouts are you out of interest?

I've used hundreds of different greases over 20 plus years, the only grease I don't like is lithium, although cheap, it used to dry out and go powdery and resulted in stuck seat posts, however, that was some years ago, but it was enough for me to not use it again, some have mentioned exus blue, that is good, Silkolene, again good, Rock and Roll bearing juice is good, Progold grease, I liked that one, nots so keen on the Finish Line.

You also need to take into consideration that higher end hubs, like XTR have better bearing surfaces and cones than say a Shimano 475 hub.

So what's the point of all of my ramblings? Nothing scientific, none produced any significant improvement over each other

Nearly all grease for bike application will be absolutely fine as you can't beat regular and proper maintenance.
