Government says dont panic - nation panics!

And that is exactly the reason why the government told us to fill up - to make public opinion go against the unions, the unions haven't caused any of this, they have said they are prepared to strike but are in talks with an arbitrator. This whole "crisis" was carefully calculated.

If you want to sack anyone, sack the current government before they do irreparable damage like selling the royal mail and NHS.

The government don't need to prime me against the unions. I'm old enough to remember when we had a car industry. Despite voting conservative last time (more to get rid of Brown who lacked the IQ to run a paper round let alone the country) the current lot really have made a dreadful hash of this.

He makes stupid 'don't panic' statements whilst Maude suggests stocking fuel in your garage (c0ck!!) and expects the populace to behave as if we all have the same insights, information and Etonian education he has.

Any action is a whole week away at least before taking the upcoming talks into account.

I'm off on holiday now and for the first time ever may spoil my election card next time.

Is this still going on? Need to fill the car to go away in, might have to siphon the mower.

Good luck, John. I too am in the same situation. First time off since Chrimbo and couldn't find a garage with diesel.

Eventually topped up around midnight! We can now get to the first part of our holiday but may well have to abort the second. It will now be well into summer before my parents get to see their grand children.

Solidarity? Sack 'em all.
I haven't really looked into the dispute and what they're fighting over, but 2 points:-

1. As far as I know, there is no strike yet, nor has there been a definite one planned? So the current panic you're seeing is instigated by what the government have said to the public, rather than anything these workers have done, beyond talking about the potential for a strike.

2. Haven't times changed? We now pillory workers when they have the audacity to stand up for what they see as unacceptable, merely because it inconveniences us? Is this because people have rationally weighed up the workers dispute, and cogently ruled it being unreasonable demands, or is it just another symptom of society being so "me, me, me..." these days?

Homer has it down: "Lisa, if you don't like your job, you don't strike: you just go in every day and do it really half assed. That's the American way." –Homer Simpson

Yeah it is.
Couple of filling stations round here have run out and there are constant queues at all the others.

I was of course half joking, have seen the news and so on. One thing it does show is that we're one small step away from total anarchy.

I believe their maybe a dispute at retrobike HQ next week so if everyone would like to panic buy all the stock this week that'd be super. Link to the retrobike shop is here.

That is tragic - hope that Maude bloke has the decency to resign over this, they have to realise not all of the general public have any common sense and causing a panic makes people forget any they do have.

On a lighter note...
