google maps street view

Can see my mum walking the dog and a few of the lads walking into town at lunchtime. Couldn't spot me on the bike though although the camera did pass me.

Just curious...In the U.S. they've been reporting that there are a lot of European communities that are protesting that Google is undertaking their StreetView project over there. Is this true and if so, what are the main reasons why people are so upset?

my mate posted me pictures of my house and his, only checked the other day and saw most of the UK not covered, but it seems its mostly covered now.

im not to happy about it as I live on a private road yet you can see straight into my living room from the camera! I just dont think they should have driven down the road never mind taken photos that can see in peoples houses.

Also dont like the fact people can see what cars are where.

It doesn't do anything that you couldn't do by walking about.

Don't really understand the car point, either. It's not real time - you can see what cars were where at the moment the camera drove by, I very much doubt they're all still in the same place now :-)

I think one of the main reasons people are upset is that in the uk our roads are much narrower than in the states so the houses are much closer to the camera so you do generally see more.

People over here are getting pissed off with the amount of CCTV & traffic cameras etc. We are the most surveilled country in the western world. (There are up to 4.2m CCTV cameras in Britain - about one for every 14 people. )

This would be fine if we weren't also the one of the most paranoid countries too.
