I am thinking of giving my macbook air to my daughter since my self imposed ban of no more than 1 hour a day on the internet.

I know she will use it to it's full potential

I on the other hand to be honest only use the internet for ebay, forums and emails and nothing else so I am thinking of a chromebook

Does anyone have one,use one have experience on one?

A chromebook should be suitable for your use, but you may want to consider a cheap laptop on Linux instead. Sometimes a proper OS does come in handy.

I'm also fairly privacy-conscious, so I try to stay clear of Google products or at least tweak and modify the software so that the Big G doesn't get hold of my personal info. On a Chromebook that's nearly impossible because the whole OS is designed with data collection in mind.

Privacy has always been a bug bear of mine so perhaps shromebook is an out , cheers chap

That and a chromebook is a laptop that only does the internet, but costs the same as a regular laptop.

When you click on links to various merchants on this site and make a purchase, this can result in this site earning a commission. Affiliate programs and affiliations include, but are not limited to, the eBay Partner Network.
There's been some decent offers on i3 and i5 laptops in the sales, haven't looked to see if they've dried up yet, but you can get some reasonable spec in the same region of prices as chromebooks.
