Good retro Spuds for iffy knees

Re:

I used SPD's for many years ignoring "hot" knees after a long ride, swapped to Time and these gave me a few more years before the problem returned. Tried Egg Beaters with no improvement. Moving the cleats back further than is recommended helped a bit. Shorter cranks made no difference for me.
Finally weaned myself off of clipless and now use flats even on the road, it doesn't look very cool but I can carry on riding.
I don't think any one has mentioned having a professional fitting.
Good luck with whatever you decide to do.

I've got dodgy knees. I ran the original DX SPDs then I started noticing some extra grief. Switched to Time A FACe, run them in various versions ever since (and Espressos on my road bikes) not had any extra pain since making the switch. If you go for the square bodied APACe their design hasn't changed at all. Latest versions are pre th much the same design but with lighter different profiled body. In fact I have put the current ti-carbon version on my Pace.
