Giro 2012 MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS!

Possibly a bit dangerous but its the sprinters lot I reckon. Can't believe Cav's complaining and not praising his team :? someone must have changed the record :P

Not sure what Phinney was doing up there in the first place either. Should have been back in the relative safety of the bunch.

Anyway Goss won fair and square, at least as much if not moreso than Cav did the day before.

What will be interesting is how Phinneys injury will effect the TTT.

Cav got very lucky. The bunny hop was lucky but the wheel missing the back of his head by millimetres was  could've been very serious. I guess Phinney was trying to avoid getting caught up in anything in the main bunch and tbf he wasn't in a bad position. On the opposite side of the road to where the main sprint was going, everything just moved across to leave him nowhere to go. If he wasn't in pink I think he'd abandon, the rest day isn't going to be enough to heal a cut on his foot that needed stitches. But I thought he had to get to the end of the stage with his bike under his own steam, Eurosport coverage seemed to say he got to the finish line in the ambulance?

+1 this confused me also

So it was the Eurosport commentator not knowing the rules that confused me cos he definitely said Phinney had to get to the end of the stage under his own steam.

I think there was some confusion all round, he wasn't the only one that thought that. Theres also the fact that cycling commissars bend the rules a bit to suit especially for the race leader. And I can't see any team complaining if Phinney was to roll up to the start.

Bad day for BMC, interestingly Phinney reckons his performance today was nothing to do with his ankle. He's said he just felt empty! Certainly been a roller coaster Giro for him so far, he nearly came a cropper again today.

Going ot be an intersting sprint tomorrow, with Cav, Goss and Renshaw all looking to prove something and Farrar will be keen for another Garmin victory.

Probably felt empty after 48hrs of pain, can't be easy to get proper rest with that injury. Half surprised the UCI didn't pull him up for having illegal ankle measurements. Wonder how Cav's road rash is affecting him too for today's stage although he's said n twitter that his daughter will be at the end and thats the type of thing he'll use as motivation to win it.
