Ghost bikes…👻

This is not to be morbid, but an interesting project published around 2012, telling the tail of some of Londons ‘Ghost bikes’.

Note: most of the family’s associated with these, were interviewed as part of the project write up I believe.

I know what you mean, is a bit thought provoking.

On a positive note, none appear to be RetroMTB’s

On my regular route into the countryside (in Sheffield) I now pass by a ghost bike. It certainly gives me pause for thought every time – I can only hope it does for drivers as well. As a city cyclist I'm also very cautious around HGVs – as this project and statistics show, they are the major cause of fatalities in towns and cities.

Where is that SJC? I don't recall seeing it

The corner where Common Lane meets Ringinglow Road in Bents Green. You can pick up some real speed going down Ringinglow, which I imagine was part of the problem in this case (I think I heard he also wasn't wearing a helmet). The incident happened a month or so ago - there's still a police 'An incident took place here...' sign opposite.
