i picked up this frame a couple of weeks ago and have just got it back from being sand blasted and powdered coated in a nice shade of blue .
its a 22" or 56cm square bike frame , that i believe is Reynolds 531 at least through out as it is very light at just under 2.5 kg (see last pics in link) , nice detailed lugwork with triangle shaped cutouts . 2 sets of bottle bosses , mudgaurd eves fr & rr .
when i got it , the paintwork was a scruffy black and very matt in appearance , so i had it stripped back to bare and then powdercoated .
i was told the following by its previous owner and have no reason to disbelieve him
' the bike came from a bike shop in camden in mid 90s - they had bought a number of ex croydon cycling club road bikes. It had nudguards but was otherwise a very light road bike. It had mavic rims and all shimano groupset except the crank which is still on the frame. It was blue and it had Geoffrey Butler detail on it. I cant remember what I paid for the bike. I used it as my daily commute to putney from kingston, but only for one season as I had other bikes and kept this one as my best. It had drilled brake levers, cinelli bars, michelin touring tyres and expensive mudguards. It stayed in my parents shed from 95 - 2006. I stripped it down of components to build up another bike and kept the frame intending to make a hybrid. But now I have my stable complete with recumbent, carbon road bike and magnesium mountain bike but I use a really old raleigh commuter most of the time so I am trying to clear the workshop of bike bits now.
