GENESIS BIKES

Lately I've been thinking about retrofitting disc brakes on my 1994 Kona but various framebuilders warned me about issues with potential internal rust and possible seat/chain stays unability to cope with the stress of disc braking.
So the new plan is now to buy a reasonably priced modern steel frameset and build it with a RS Reba SL 100mm and a choice of reliable midrange components by Shimano, Ritchey, etc, nothing fancy.
During my search, I've discovered the variety of the steel bike offering in the UK, Orange, Sanderson, On-One, Cotic and particularly the Genesis brand.
On the paper, the Altitude models have everything I like. I've read on their site the numerous good reviews that MTB magazines have done but I'd like to read opinions from previous or actual owners if there's some on RBUK. So Thanks to them or to anybody that has links to other sources of information.

Cheers
Karl

This is a '99 orange clockwork with a hope No2 calliper bolted to the frame at the axle and supported on a jubilee clip around the seat stay.
This was one of the fixings actually supplied by hope, the other was an arm that ran to the brake pivot ,from the calliper,as a means of support.

i used it like that for several years without problem, till i sold it to some guy in France  a couple of years ago.

I have a spare calliper, special skewer [new from hope],hub with short axle and spacers.on a Hope C2 sport lever[needs a longer hose though],im just missing the bolt to bolt it to the frame.Hopefully Hope tech will come up with one for me or ill find an engineers to copy the bolt i'm using for my retro fit disc brake.
The hub needs dismantled as the spider lockring is seized and the bolt reproduced and its ready to fit discs on a non disc frame.

'KIN Hope for not keeping spares
Pain in the arse getting these items made
