Recently I bought myself a 2009 Genesis Altitude 20 MTB with Reynolds 853 tubing in the September's sales and have to say I am pleased with it and it's the best bike I have ridden to date.

The altitude have the classic steel look with thin tubes similar to Kona with the gear cables running frame downtube and a brake cable on top tube for neat and clean look while nearly all modern MTB have all three cables on top tube, it also have the kona style of top tube slope and same facing direction as Kona seatpost clamp.

I think they are very good price for Reynolds 853 frame of Altitude 30 for £350 if you compare to other steel frames out there:

Charge Duster £350 (double butted)
On-One Inbred £135 (double butted)
Cotic Soul £470 (Reynolds 853)
Genesis Altitude 30 £350 (Reynolds 853)

I quite fancy the Ti frame, better start saving next year or so

Cannondale King, I never seen your type before with different cables set up on top tube, it's for team factory riders or the earler version type? but it's still nice looking bike and I like it, it's paint finish or chrome finish?

guybe i think mines the factory team issue as the on the bb it has the frame number M6080114 plus it has this SOLUTION which i havn't seen or heard of on other genesis altitude frames 853 or other and its a wet paint finish in chrome looks sweet but getting tired now with scratches from battles lost and won 8) 8) i only paid £90 for the frame as well which makes this bike even sweeter for me 8)

Thanks...
On other hand, I'll try to find and to post the US genesis bikes pictures

What is the benefit of having the cable routing on the lower tube? Would that not get dirty more quickly. I would like my bike to be low maintenance...

My next purchase thanks to the 'bike4work' scheme is the Genesis Croix De Fer. Looks amazing and should be as nice a road bike as it is a cyclocross.

I've been looking for a while for a modern steel hardtail for around £800, but I've only just stumbled upon these Genesis MTBs.
