Does the '66' refer to the drop on the brakes ?

Meaning 660mm as in Weinmann 610 meaning 610mm

More likely the year.
I think they were rebadged Altenburger.

According to various sources the Coureur 66 brake was introduced in 1961, so that can't be it.

Got just the thing, drop from centre of the fixing bolt to centre of brake block is 55mm top, 75mm bottom..

So "66" would just about be the average drop then? That sort of makes sense, for a name.
