When you Picked the 18th you did check here......viewtopic.php?f=5&t=315076 ......It is the 2015 RetroBike Rides Calender

The Yorkshire Weekender ( The Yorkshire National) has been in there since jan

Whats with the rolling eyes??

Since when did you suddenly decide to have exclusivity on a particular day in July? Wheres your thread to invite and organise it all? Dr.S' compendium doesnt even show a Yorkshire Weekender for last year so why decide in May when this thread has been running since JANUARY.

And besides, the approx 350 mile round trip is not appealing to me and maybe not to others either, so they have a CHOICE.

If nobody turns up for my ride, thats fine with me, the North York moors is a nice place, just a shame about some of the locals eh?

The rolling eyes are because YES the are dates that other rides should not be organised on

Like the date of a National ride the clue is in the name, it does not matter that your 350 miles away.

I understand that the Gates ride is run on or about this date annually but its normally a low key affair advertised in your local area.

Sorry if I sound a bit pissed off but we start planning our weekender's as soon as we finish one were planning.

Ps DrS hasn't had anything to do with the Yorkshire Area since 2012.

Er, have you actually read back to yourself what you have written so far? I think its actually up to the riders themselves where they ride rather than be told where they should and shouldnt ride. Low key or not, you have absolutely nothing to do with what other people want to organise for themselves - I'd love to see why you think that you do.

I don't decide who rides where, but as a AEC I have to follow rules to run rides under the RetroBike Banner which includes

When the Announcements for rides can be posted etc and where.

But as your ride is not a "RetroBike Ride" you do not have to follow the same rules, I would have though that as your using retrobike to publicise your ride you would at least check to see if their was anything else on that date and if their was drop the organiser a pm to inform them, just good manners

Ps I update the aftermath threads after every ride and yes Si very occasionally dose ride with us

Re: GATES GATES! 2015 East Angular annual Gates ride Sat 18 July

Its not 'my' ride, it belongs to those that turn up and enjoy it and make it their own. I do not gain in any way other than sometimes I get a few freebie bike parts. And a lot of dirty tea cups.

I am using Retrobike to publicize an annual RETROBIKE ride in East Anglia that has run for the last 5 years without anyone throwing their toys out because it happens to be 175 miles south of theirs.

And there are no 'rules' and never have been.

The only time this has ever been an 'Official' RB ride was in 2011 when it was supported by Grafham Cycling and John lent out the big RB banner you can see on the side of my old van. Since then its simply been a gathering of local folk to come along and enjoy a ride out in the flatlands on knackered old bicycles, eat cake, drink beer and talk toot. The day was chosen back in April and has been up for some weeks now.

I still dont understand your total hostility and over reaction.

Re: GATES GATES! 2015 East Angular annual Gates ride Sat 18 July

Am I allowed to go for a poo? Or is someone else having one up North so the poo quota is filled for that day??

I am led to believe that there may now be a form to fill in. And as I am now in a fowl mood, I think the poo quota up north must be filled, they seem to be sloshing in the stuff and its overflowing to poison other areas.

Re: GATES GATES! 2015 East Angular annual Gates ride Sat 18 July

I have called the organisers of the BHF South Downs Way off road ride, the Paddle,Peddle,Plod in Wales and also the Birmingham To London.....dont think they were very interested!!

Re:

Touching cloth ... need to go. Anyone in Yorkshire area willing to swap poo allocation time?

From the AEC guide for events written by Drystonepaul
So as a rule of thumb, avoid organising a ride to take place (for adjacent regions):

4 weeks either side of a National within a 100 mile radius.
2 weeks either side within a 200 mile radius
1 week either side for anywhere else.

I don't see a problem

There are rules that Retrobike 'management' have implemented to keep Retrobike rides, and particularly national series rides well attended. These are found in the D/AECs area and all D/AECs are expected to follow them when organising rides.

No-one is trying to tell anyone where or when they can ride, but if you are using this site to organise a ride it is only proper to follow the site rules regarding rides. If you don't want to do that then of course you can ignore them. But you should really use some other place to publicise and organise it.

Some people put a lot of effort into organising rides, and follow the site rules. If it appears that other rides are detracting then that can be annoying. If you don't see that, fair enough, but Kaya is entitled to raise the issue as he did. It was done politely and any response should also be polite.
