Gary Fisher 29er . . . . . . from 2002 , FINISHED ! ! !

Re:

Hi Gaz ,

Yes it did feel a bit odd at first . Went sprinting up the road , forks bouncing a lot and trying to get the front wheel rolling. Now I've upped the damping its a bit better , but I do try to stay in the saddle when going uphill . You do tend to notice the wheel size otherwise .
Also swapped bars and stem from earlier ones pictured in the thread . Maybe that makes a difference as most people I know use massive bars on theirs .
I just prefer narrow ones for singletrack sections , and on the initial ride , found that I was naturally putting my hands closer so there was an inch either end of the 650mm bar not being used .
Hence putting the narrower flats on it .

I felt exactly the same, when I first rode a 29er.

Have fun with your "retro 29er"

Thanks Martin

I like it so much , I'm going out on the Sunn tomorrow !

Well , I don't want to lose the small amount of skills I've developed riding a steel rigid . Also need to work off my bingo wings
