Fully chromed 'Bob Read' branded 56cm bike in Doncaster - now collected...

Something a bit different on marketplace. Bob Read Cycles was a shop in Doncaster. I have no idea who made the frame, but it looks decent and most of the chrome would polish up okay, I think. There are some decent parts on it, too.

Yes. They are practically forcing me to buy it, really . Hopefully I’m picking it up this Thursday and my chrome polishing will be put to the test.

I made the trip to pick this up today. I would say in the current market it's probably worth...about £20 and some petrol money. I'm glad I saved it, though – the seller was on the verge of taking it to the tip because he was clearing out his whole shed in preparation for replacing it.



As I suspected, most of the chrome should come up okay with a fine wire wool/GT85 rub down. Here's the left fork quickly done, and the right fork left as is:



Anyway, I'll put a thread up in the road bikes section in a bit, if only to try and ID the maker. There are a few clues, including a serial number.

Still looks very decent for £20 IMHO, whoever the builder is.

It’s cleaned up pretty well. It’s actually hardly been used, just sat in a shed for about 40 years.
