Klein headtube

Can someone explain to me why some kleins have the bulgey headtube is it just the high end frames certain years or are these the only frames that will take the all in one stem and bars or will they fit the straight head tube kleins

Also the all in one stem bars do they fit mormal 1inch or 118 headsets thanks

Early 90´s top range Kleins forks has 1.5" oversize steerer tube ... and integrated bearings in the head tube, internal cable routing, pressfit BB ... they were very advanced for the time.

There were MC1 (the one piece bar/stem) to fit standard 1" and well as MC1s for the proprietary oversized head tube.

Bulgey head tubes on Klein's are from after Trek took them over. They removed some of the Klein specific features like oversized headset's to use normal components. Less valuable than the earlier large headtube Klein's. You will also see the model names have 'comp', 'race' or similar at the end.

my understanding?? In general but not always, the earlier Klien popular models seemed to have slightly flared ends with a slimmer middle. The TreKlein versions, Again not always, tend to have a beer keg headstock with a bulging middle going to slimmer ends. I'm sure the experts in here will explain further and adjust opinion if needed.

I noticed that as well i got a pinnacle from 91 92 now thats a straight 1nch headtube now i dont know what forks or stem bars (if all in one) came on it and its metalic blue thats why my thinking was just the higher end frame paints jobs (fades etc) and the odd rarer black dont hold me too the black had the full works forks bulgie headset all in one stem bars and you couldnt mix and match
