Freehub Confusion

I need new freehub body for my 8-Speed '95 Cindercone with it's original Deore LX hub. I just made an online purchase for FH-M570:

because i'd previously seen an ebay advert declaring this item suitable for 8 or 9 speed:

However i then found some "Shimano Tech" info which descibes FH-M570 as "9 speed" and FH-M580 as "8/9 speed". So now i'm not sure if i can use my purchased freehub on my 8 speed bike or not. I live abroad, bike not with me so i'm doing my purchases remotely and won't be able to examine the things physically until i arrive in UK for a short visit, then i have only a few days to build up the bike and not much time to chase around solving wrongly purchased parts..

Am i good to go with this freehub, or did i goof up?

Looks right to me. I recently had a *cough* learning experience when I discovered that the bearing dustcover diameter can vary.
Typically it is cheaper to buy a new hub at a discount and scavenge the spares you need.

I was under the impression that both 8 and 9 speed cassettes could be used on these kind of freehubs? Only the cassette sprocket spacings and chain width being narrower on the 9 speed, with the freehub itself being essentially similar. Or is that not the case? Unfortuately i don't have practical experience of interchanging them.

on my smartphone right now so I can't easily check myself but I believe most Shimano freehubs are compatible with each other (7/8/9 speed all the way up to 10).

exceptions include some old uniglide hubs (recognisable from the external threads) & the issue with hyperglide-c vs standard hyperglide (latter won't take an 11-tooth sprocket).

They are interchangeable, but Shimano did alter the bearing cone / seal design a few times, so while it will fit at the worst case you might find that the old bearing cones will not.
