Free internet connection?

Thanks chaps...I didn't know about dongles....not free, but thats the way forward. I need internet access at work without a telephone line.
Now then....lap tops :roll:

thing with dongle is you can sign up to a monthly subscription or go on pay as you go works same way as a pay go mobile phone also if your on a monthly subscription with phone do you have a add on package that gives you mobile broadband access if so ypu just install to laptop said software needed to use phone and away you go

i have the 3 prepay dongle and find its alright main thing to be sure of when getting a dongle is that the area your using it has coverage

Just make sure your 3G connection where your going to use it works, dont take the networks word for it either.

A lot of the time, once youve signed for it it's yours, regardless if you get receiption or not.

If a shop wont let you try before you buy or guarantee to let you return it. buy it online, there is a distance selling act that should let you return it all.

Also you can now get hold of wireless routers for your 3G dongle,

carl there is a community dubbed FON that have its members actually give access to their connection through WIFI

so if at home you grant access to your broadband through wifi to fon members ( more or les , you give some place , you receive some place else so convenient when travelling )

dunno if it is very active in the UK as it is of spanish origin

When you do a scan of wifi spots, they are going to show up as FON

I am trying to set it up in geneva but for the moment signal from another memeber is to low to grab a connection :cry:

Pros and Cons of using someone elses wifi are its free to you but not to them

an open connection can be usde by you and anyone else who found it and be using it to download anything from films to porn and in the extreme case that tat may mean you have to account for yourself and your online activity the connection you are on may be getting used by someone grooming on the internet, yes extreme but possible so would think long and hard about fleecing free wifi.
