Frame Sizing Help Please

Duplicated from the Ebay thread as it is a technical question.

Sorry to be obsessive, but would someone with Ebay access at work (fun police here I'm afraid) have a look at the dimensions of this frame and have a guess about what size person it might fit.

It does not help that the frame size quoted has changed between 17 and 18" a couple of times.

I am actually interested in the other one listed (very shiny and newer) and the chap has claimed it has the same dimensions but lists it as a 16.5".

I am 5'11" with a 31 inside leg, probably 33 inseam but not sure. My Kona is 19" but apparantly is too big and has been for the past 14 years (!), my Tomac is a Medium (18") with a layback post but short stem. I think the Funk that will be delivered today (wishful thinking) is a 17".

Help!

My main ride is an 18" Pace, i'm 5' 10" with a 32" inside leg and its just right. The more important measurement in my (limited) knowledge is the top tube length.

My other bikes are a 16.5" Cannondale (too small really cos top tube is a little short), an 18" Rocky Mountain with a monstrous top tube (nice) and a 16.5" Funk with around a 22" top tube (too small really).

I always run 120 or 130mm stems on all my bikes and no layback seatposts.

Thanks guys, suppose I need to get the thing, build it and sit on it to see how it feels! I wonder what the reserve on the shiny one is??? Might just have to find out.

That Ozone CO2 has been up several times now if that's the bike your talking about and the BIN price is £150...guess that's the reserve

Looks kinda nice but I got too many e-stays now

You sound a pretty normal 5-11 so I can’t see why a size 19 Kona should be too big, although you might prefer an 18, there’s not that much in it.

The measurements look a bit dodgy to me. If he has measured top tube c-c, it’s a fraction shorter than a size 16 Kona. If the chainstay is a c-c measure it’s the shortest chainstay in the history of mtb and you could have tyre/mud clearance issues.

Of course we don’t have any sexism here, but if that’s a photograph of yourself, then you’re beguilingly beautiful.

I've got a frame sat next to my desk with 16" chainstays actually

LMAO, nice one, no not me, just Drew Barrymore. Keep meaning to change her for some other floozy, but can't bear to do away with her!

Their are 2 on the 'Bay at the moment, the second is newer and shinier. It was at £30 last time I saw, but had not reached its reserve. I don't understand why everyone does not just include the reserve price in the auction listing, would save a lot of time. I think the £125 (£150 BIN) one is overpriced as I am probably the only person in the world that wants one, but good luck to them if they can get the money!

The measurements have confused me totally and I don't know whether to bid or not. Hoping to get some more info from the second seller later on, but we shall see.

If partly depends on how fat your tubes and your tyres are I guess, but a 16 c-c equates to about 14" from axle to seat tube, which doesn't leave room for much mud. Or put it another way, if 16 is such a good idea, why is 16.75 the standard?

Yup I agree (sorry to hijack the thread  ) but e-stays are weird like that, always have short stays. Just measured my axle to tube and its about 14.5", I used to have trouble with 2.1 Specialized Ground Controls BITD, then I switched to 1.95 and had less trouble.
