Frame paints

Hi all, recently picked up a 1970 Carlton clubman (at least that's what it was listed as) off eBay. Condition was fairly poor so it's turned into a complete strip down. Frame will be powder coated but I'll be painting a few areas after myself. Has anyone used sprays on a frame and can recommend any to use or avoid. I'm guessing an enamel spray will give me the most robust finish. Any advice?

Thanks

To be frank, rattle can paints are all fragile and still costly when you tot it all up. I would check with a bike sprayer (Vaz, Bob Jackson etc) before pressing the button.

Re:

Bagpuss, the singletrack forum confirms what I was thinking in that it's possible but just a time consuming task in buffing the powder coat back. I'm not too concerned about time however it's a once you start there's no going back that's making me cautious regarding using the right paint. I'll need to see how I'm feeling about it once it's coated. Might well just be a case of jumping in
