Hi, i've recently obtained an old frameset, that has long point lugs, shot in pencil rear stays, campag drop-outs with mudguard eyes and braze-ons that appear to be purpose made for bar end shifters rather than down tube ones. It takes a 27.2 seatpost and is very light, so may be 531?, however i can't find any identity marks on the frame but the forks have the number 55264 stamped on the steerer tube. Anyone got any suggestions regarding maker/age, i'll hope to post some pictures in the near future. Thanks Matt

some pics, has a thick coat of white-ish paint, i've tried to rub it off on the b/b but no luck!. Anyway have a look and if you recognise anything i'd be interested in reading it. Thanks

The 64 in the number could be a clue, the design details look very 60's-ish to me. However, the BB oiler is a bit out of period but perhaps the original owner specified it. The shot-in seat stays started becoming popular around this time (see here - http://www.retrobike.co.uk/forum/viewto ... highlight= ) but I'm not saying it is a Harry Quinn because the jointing of the stay to the seat tube doesn't look quite right for HQ, not enough 'taper'. Several builders were offering this style around the time in question. Where did you buy it from?

Thanks for the response Old Ned, i bought it last week from ebay on a cheap BIN so no real history. It came with quite a bit of early nuovo record attached and some rusty chater-lea pedals so i gambled that it'd be a half decent frame. Thought i might resurrect it, but the braze-ons are specific to the bar-end shifters so i'm not so sure now. Matt

The bar-end braze-ons will come off easy enough (especially if you're having it resprayed) and you can then use clip-on levers.
