Re:

Thanks for the replies,

I think I'll go for a flamboyant purple, chrome head lugs, and not to sure on what lug lining colour, and what colour to have the bb lugs, seat lugs etc?

Re:

Right.....

I've decided upon flamboyant purple as my main colour, gold decals from H Lloyd, "WF holdsworth" fancy script on the down tube, "Whirlwind" fancy script on the top tube, and a Holdsworth Crown seat tube decal.

The head lugs, fork crown, lower forks, and chainstay ends are to be chromed. After speaking to C&G the company they used to use for chroming is no longer about, so they mentioned that one of their customers (the guy that does the Hetchins frames) uses a company called Leigh Metal Polishers. So going to take it their to be chromed.

Has anybody used these before?

The chromed head lugs will be lined with gold enamel.

Should I do the head tube a contrasting colour, and also have the same colour as a band on the seat tube? Or just keep it all purple.

Thanks

Re:

Be careful when refitting your head set if you have the head lugs done . I have heard of cases of the chrome cracking in certain cases during installation . Rare but it can happen . Use a proper tool or get a lbs to refit. Some frame makers will no longer have head lugs chromed .

Re:

Dropped the frame and forks off at Leigh Metal Polishers on Wednesday afternoon. Got a bit of a shock at the price, I knew it wasn't going to be cheap but I want to do it properly so I've given them the go ahead.

They had a couple of Hetchins frames in that they were in the process of chroming, very intricate work indeed.

Be about 5 weeks before I can collect, then off to C&G for enamelling. I'll post some pictures when I get it back, before it goes to C&G

I know green is unlucky with the sailing / fishing fraternity, but as far as racing cars are concerned it was a lucky colour for britain in the 50s and 60s and seeing as I have a green bike myself now I'm worried LOL but seriously cherry red, electric blue or dark metallic blue would look fine in my opinion
