Frame and fork, trash or treasure?

more measurement info:

headset that's installed matches the 1" steerer on the fork.

seatpost diameter is SMALL, size is approx 26.4-26.6. I have a 26.8 post that won't fit into the opening and another 26.2 post that slides in and out very loosely and wiggles around i believe a tad too much.

note i don't know what the original colour is, but i sprayed painted this way back when by hand. there's a orange/brown colour underneath but i don't know if it was a primer i may have put on, or it's the original colour.

the top of the seat tube looks very similar to my recently aquired khs. not familiar enough with it to remember the cable routung but i'm pretty sure its the same as that.

You could be right, but I read that as reducing their workload by diverting to Bikepedia those questions that can be answered by Bikepedia, which this one can't be.

The decode of the serial number is interesting, but I doubt whether the 801 bit means January 1988, as the design features look a lot later than that and the individual ID bit is surely something that only KHS could decode for you. Does your frame's serial number resemble RockiMtn's at all?

embarassingly i havent made a note of it but mide didnt make a deal of sense. his frame has identical fratures to mine and mine is 93/94
