We might end up with 100's of groups with just two members each then which makes moderation a hassle. As Kaiser pointed out over on the group area thread (where we should be having this conversation), having known and clearly defined set areas is handy for planning riding trips further afield.

Its a minefield, but will get sorted eventually. Check out the other thread to keep this one on topic and to get the general state of play so far.

The MacRetro, NE and East Mids areas arealready formed and are working well, why change now?

I'm not suggesting that established groups should be broken up. I'm just pointing out that a "South Downs" group would be far more useful to the guys from Sussex & West Hampshire than being part of a pre-defined "super-area" that stretches from the Isle of Wight to The Wash.

I can kind of see where that is going, I did a area poll a while ago there was hardly anyone from Glos,Oxford,Warc etc etc . But say Forest of dean group maybe it would suit better and be better suported as both reto forest rides have had 15+ people? :?

In the for sale, wanted & ebay watch are we goign to have 3 seperate sections for this? otherwise its going to be messing and confussing for everyone.

It worked fine before..

What you're lookng at is for road only that doesn't get nearly the same number of threads as MTB! The MTB's still have 3 seperate sections for these  (look further up)

Are you adding more areas to the area groups? There seem to be quite a few of us "Wurzels" on the site ;)

I have dug out the original (and long winded) debate over in MTB chat. Reading back through it there is still much to be done, but I now think that 10 area groups should do the trick.

My proposal is

MacRetro
North East and Yorkshire
North West
East Midlands
West Midlands
North Wales
South Wales
Mid Shires
South West
South East

What do you think??

Keep the debate over on the other thread to keep this one on topic.

Cheers

Let's keep area group discussion here > http://www.retrobike.co.uk/forum/viewto ... 959#305959

To restate what I'll post there.

The area groups thing does need a little more direction and thought but it's developing oranically and seems to be working well so let's go with it.

My suggestion is we stick with Dr S suggestion for the UK groups as starting point. Nothing is set in stone - groups can be merged or split as required. Let's just see how it works.

For Europe, the US and the rest of the World I/we are open to suggestions.

If you'd like a thread setup either for the UK or World drop me a PM and I'll get on it.
