Fork length question

Soooo.... now what....? I found some articles on my language in that topic. Some of these says that the trail is the most important thing in the bicycle's maneuverability and stability. increasing 5 cemtimeters on fork length means 2 cm rising in middle bearing, and plus it decreases the headtube angle with 2 degrees.... with rigid fork, as xerxes said.

is it a significant change by forks-suitable frames or negligible having regard to the fact, that the angles and trail are changing while cycling as xerxes said?

Re:

Don't get hung up on the 'science' of rake and trail...

...just fit a fork you like the look of and go ride it.

It makes a difference on a high performance motorcycle where you have considerably more rotating mass that you have to overcome to change direction (did you ever do the gyroscopic force demo at school holding a spinning bicycle wheel at arms length? ) but on a pushbike, during the sort of riding that most of the members on here indulge in, you really won't notice the slightest difference!

After all, look how many commuters you see quite happily trundling along with their fork fitted back-to-front!

I'm trying... ;)

Just don't want to damage the frame (and getting injured) with a wrong choice.

I've just missed a Marzo Bomber Z2 fork. It had exactly the same height as my RST 460...
Now it seems that remains a Marzo Bomber Z1, with the height of 470 mmrs... It's a little bit heavier, but also simple, undemanding (if it's a right word for it  ) piece.

Yay!

Where you been, Luther - you changed, man!

Seriously - good to see you back.

 slaving over a hot soldering iron mostly; making money instead of spending it!

wolfman: seriously, you're not going to damage your frame, and the most likely way of injuring yourself is if you drop the RST on your foot whilst removing it!

Ok, thanks for the help and the arcticles.

Next question: do you know hte Z2 Atom forks from Marzocchi? Air suspension in both sides, the bridge is made of magnesium alloy. What kind of forks are those? Are they reliable and durable?

Re:

I have no experience of that particular fork but it is a Marzocchi; suspension is what they do...

...and all the online reviews are very favourable 8)

I certainly rate the two I have.
