We had an agreement / memorandum of understanding in place that the number of bikes was frozen, and we were on a one in, one out policy. Actually her interpretation was one out, then one in; but that's interpretation for you :)

Having to spend time on my back with my foot in the air isn't good for me as it means I chew over possible ebay purchases far more. Assuming my latest ebay purchase doesn't turn out to be a pup, I've got this to look forward to:

Now I have the slight problem of how to handle this. It's not as though I can hide it in the loft or anywhere when it arrives as I can't get up the ladders. I think I'm in for a slap

Anyone want to buy one of my other bikes in the next few weeks :) ? Then again it's easier to ask for forgiveness than permission.

Play on your injuries Mr Crell. Cower and cringe a bit then give her the 'Puss-in-Boots' eyes treatment. Is that your X-Ray? Very impressive. You'll be setting metal detectors off where ever you go!

There in lies your answer. If I interpret your post correctly the one out one in policy applies to bicycles. You have not bought another bicycle just a frame. Where's the problem? If she has issues with it it's her own fault for laying down a poorly considered rule. Application of flawless logic will show she doesn't have a leg to stand on.

Good luck explaining all this, I'm glad I'm not in your shoes.

Strap it tae yer leg and say it's a very new experimental traction method........then throw some chocolate and a new handbag in one direction, and hobble to safety in the other.
It's the only way.........

Have it delivered to me and collect at your leisure - I have safe storage. You're not far away.

.

How into what you've got is she? Could you say its one that had been away for repair? its worked for me in the past. Blooooody nice frame by the way

The kind friend storage offer is not a bad idea ( I've used that one!)

However a spare frame is always a good idea and presumbly spare parts are exempt from this rule- after all it's good economy to buy something in advance if you see it rather than be forced into an expensive purchase through necessity! Tell her it's saving money in the long term!

Also enlist a friend or two who has far more bikes than you to support you - that way she may feel grateful that you only have the number you have now.

And ( this works for me) remind her that there are far worse hobbies a man/woman could have ( without being too specific!!)

Best of luck
