Forgive me, wife, for I have sinned.

I bought my Rocky Mountain Vertex on the back of selling two bikes first, still got them both. She hasn't mentioned it ... yet!

Just tell your Mrs that I'd arranged to buy one of your bikes off you before you ordered the new frame.

I'll send you a PM soon pleading poverty & telling you that I can no longer afford to buy your bike.

Result= You've been stiffed, not your fault, your Mrs thinks that somebody she's never met is a complete tool.

Job's a carrot.

I was gonna agree with one of the comments above that "its only a frame" and not a bike, but they are cleverer than that. However that is one I recently got away with though my tank frame was only £150 :D :P defo don't say the price!!! concentrate on the discount :D

My biggest problem is introducing the too shiney to be free Orange plus parts to the flat
building the Saracen... (might get away with that) and stash the Muddy Fox, or even sell it!

Crell mate, dont want to pee on your fire but i was looking at that frame before buying the Merida, the rear tyre/mud clearance isnt too great but saying that there were a few at this years Muddiest Bikefest ever and they seemed to be doing just fine :P

Thanks all for some great suggestions. Never undersetimate the wife. She's too bike savvy unfortunately to try the " I bought that 6 years ago and just been waiting to build it " type excuses. The frame is coming to my home address so the oportunity to intercept and stash is pretty non existent.

I wasgoodonce...that's my normal posture, she wouldn't be able to tell the difference. Yes the marigolds and KY gags have already been cracked as I become a target for zealous airport staff from now on.

Ed, thanks for the offer but I can't fling it in the boot and drive over. As for the price - no I didn't pay anything like that 8), and yes, they reallt had a reason for that price I'm sure...err I don't think so.

Hopping around the house with it under my arm could turn it in to the most expensive anti fall device if it goes wrong. It's a bit too inconspicuous to stash anywhere I can actually get to at the moment :)

TSC, I like it, but I'll still get slapped.

Reanimation - I played the discount card on the Foes, there are only so many jokers in the pack.

CAS, I'm running at 12 bikes at the moment, I think she's got me on grounds of reasonableness and relative numbers.

DBMTB - I think you've hit the nail on the head. The problem is I can't even run away from her at the moment.

Andy, it was a bit of an impulse purchase so I didn't check it out in advance. I just really like the way it looks...I would have preferred the green one but you can't have everything. I'm happy on a 1.9 rear though so I think I'll be OK. I need to sort out the build though. Still thinging about that.

Show her this image - this'll prove you have a long way to go yet.

Another thought - tell your OH that the one in /one out rule also applies to something she holds dear - shoes, handbags, cuddly toys whatever!
