"To the tip" is a bit strong. There's always someone who can make use of it. Personally I'd sooner ride this than some of the tat that folk on here have restored and love. Some of that 70s gas pipe stuff really was bso tat, but we rode them and had fun.

Will it take tyres wide enough to offset the frame deficiencies? Given the trend toward fat tyres and low pressure frame quality is almost irrelevant, if it is straight.

What silly old rubbish is this? Not an opinion or phrase I'm acquainted with

I guess it is limited by the Sora calipers probably max 28mm.

28mm tyres, with air pressure safely above pinch flat range, still allow for frame qualities to shine thru.
