For the "everything Halfords sells is crap" brigad

CRC, like Halfords and any LBS fail miserably as a singular place to buy kit from..

And product range is irrelevant .. the question is whether those who appear to believe that, because something comes from Halfords, it must be crap actually believe that..

what makes me laugh about the halfords v's lbs is the snobbery of cyclists that pure and simple wont buy from halfords because well its halfords :? even if the parts/bikes are cheaper/better than the local bike shop

I think thats a bit harsh and not strictly true

But it is, you do a search on here or infact most bike websites and you'll see the same old comments about not buying from halfords, and its just blinkered views.

I don't believe Halfords products are crap (somewhat generic bland maybe)
Their service is crap though, I've to experience any decent level of indepth knowledge or anything above basic "that'll be 3.99" service.
i.e.

Me: i'd like some bike cable cutters please
Halfords bike mechanic: uhhh yeah... (looks at tool shelf that i'd just checked).. uh ...(goes off asks other bike staff, check computer, has a rummage, check computer, asks another member of staff - gets answer) ... we've only got 2 , one for us and one for downstairs.....

And that as they say was that - we don't got none to sell you

Don't get me wrong I've had a few nightmares with LBSs, and perhaps I'm spoilt by having one I can rely on, and have relied on it for the past few years.

There's no snobbery there, I just don't rate it as a bike shop, and you can generally get better service, aftercare and advice from an LBS.

its the service you get that makes Halfords such an awful experience - I've been shopping there for 20 years to try and get the place out of my system....

......cyclelife dealer

If they're anything like our local Cyclelife dealer then I'm not surprised.

A couple of guys from the local Bikehut buy their bike stuff from us. Some of the questions they ask make you wonder how they're able to fix bikes properly.
