I am trying to build my girlfriend a bike for the summer so we can go on some rides together.

Her Grandmother donated a Rudge Deluxe Sports Tourist for me to sell or swap for some bits for her bike. Rudge is a classic old brand from Nottingham England.

The Rudge is in ok condition for its age and gears and brakes both work. But it has been sitting in a barn for nearly 20 years at least so it is very dusty and some of the chrome is lightly rusted but a good polish would probably sort it out. So with a respray and a polish/clean this'd be in
nice condition. The major downside I can see at a glance is the pedals are quite worn and rattly but might still be salvageable.

Or I'd sell for somewhere in the region of £100 ish posted (not sure of the value I am just guessing a price)...

Let me know if there is any interest and I'll get a full spec up. Also any suggestions for better places to sell this would be appreciated if there is no market here.

More pics and info. available on request.

Cheers

Just a couple of thoughts....should/might be able to date from the SA hub - usually have year/month date stamp. Looks as if originally had rod brakes. Chain case appears to have small sliding "hatch" missing - not always easy to source - but it does have the rear lower section present which is not all that common.
Unless it's older than it looks, it's a badge-engineered Raleigh
Probaly weighs getting on for 40 lbs!!
Really quite nice!

Hi guys,

I am really short on space so would really like to get this bike moved if at all possible. If the date on the rear hub is anything to go by then this is a 1986 model.

I was going to part it out but have been told that my girlfriends mother who just remembered this was her bike  would like it sold in one piece to an owner who will enjoy it/give it a good home.

I am open to any and all offers, so please don't be shy as I have already bought my girlfriends frame.

Or if this doesn't have a market on here could you suggest a place where it could be sold?

Cheers

Ed

IF the hub is '86 then it's surely a replacement!
Eaby is your on;y friend - doubt it'll do more than fifty.

Ok, well thanks Dave, I think my girlfriend would be happy with that. I'll cross my fingers.

Just one last thing, do you think I should give it a wipe and polish before the sale or leave it in as found condition?

Thanks again.

"do you think I should give it a wipe and polish before the sale or leave it in as found condition?"

The former IMO! Sort of "...ready to ride....and/or restore to former beauty..." sort of thing?

Oh and shine up the Brooks - for reasons beyond my inderstanding folk just love 'em! A few months ago I bought quite a nice Raleigh Pioneer for 36 quid - and ebay'd the saddle (admittedly as new) for 30!

Bugger, I will have to find a lot of time then...so much to do and so little time (in general not necessarily with this bike)....

But thank you for your time.

Thanks a lot for the help guys, all pm's have been replied to.

Any tips on improving and polishing the Brooks greatly appreciated.

Cheers

My wife might be interested and you're quite local to me - the only issue might be the size as she's only 5'1"... what is the frame size?

cheers
