I live in a very quiet area, but I have had a load of "scrap" nicked from the back garden and they are bold as brass when they do the deed. I was told by a neighbour the guys pulled up outside my house in a transit, they were challenged but replied that they were sent here to collect an old dishwasher, so off they went in to my back garden, nicked a load of "scrap" which included my original 1.6GTi alloys and a steel bath I'd only just removed the day before (how did they know about that?!)
This was when scrap prices were very high so theft was tempting. Quite low prices now so maybe not worth their bother.
Oh, and Police didn't give a stuff, didn't even bother. They could have gone to the local scrap weigh in place where I could have identified my alloys :evil:

Bold as brass as it were...
Anyway, it says a lot about where I live as I've gone to bed in the Summer and accidently left the front door wide open. And I've left the garage door open on a number of occasions.
I think I'll tidy up out front and store the clunge out back somewhere.

we get 'em round my work too, just drive in bold-as-brass and try and help themselves.
Pallet racking, pipework, metal cages, they'll try and nick the bloody lot.
Pull that taxi right up to the garage door, it'll make a break-in more challenging.

Definately be worried. I wouldn't have given them anything as it will only encourage them to come back. You should have asked them for some money for the stuff you gave them.
Bold as brass. Smelly as poo. There is a large community near me and i hate them with a passion. They think they are above the law and the sad thing is they are. Sickens me.
They do have a tendency to respect people who stand up to them. A pick up full of pikeys were geering at my mates mrs in front of his kids. Mate casually pulled a baseball bat out of his boot and they were all apologies.
Did i mention i hate them.

Travellers are the one area my normally left wing, liberal views vanish. They are bloody animals, the lot of them.
Be very worried. Once they realise what you have, you will be a target. The only way to escape their attention is not to own anything.
