dont be scared of them, just be scared of what they will rob. if you do need to call the police dont mention gypsy or traveller or transit van.

i used to be afraid of them but i know a couple to say hello to now. they just have no morals other than to look after one another.

most of the ones round here drive vans in the day and porsches, mercs and bmw's in the evening

lots of scrapyards near where i live so we have regular run ins with them......

or expensive gas mains/fittings are always going missing, they drive past....bold as brass.....see what we have then knick it when we go home!

even had a spell of them stealing all the man hole/drain covers........cars were getting wrecked.
