Fixed up Dawes

Hi Guys

Just found this forum and really enjoy looking at everyones bikes. I'm incredibly new to the whole bike scene but recently picked up an oldish Dawes bike and gave it a new lease of life.

Not sure of the model or age as the guy I bought it from knew nothing about it. I've tried to put it back together with nearly all of it's original parts other than renewing things like brakes and cables.

Just wanted to get your thoughts on it. If you have any constructive criticism I'd be happy to hear it as I'm always happy to learn new things. I haven't got too many photos of it but will try and put some new ones up soon.

Thanks for looking!

This is how it came:

This is one of the reasons it needed a new paint job:

Re:

Thanks for that! It's powder coat but I'm not sure of the exact colour code of it. I'll be going back down there shortly to take some parts for my wife's bike in so I'll get the colour code for you then.

Yes please. I'm in love. Perfect for a Dawes ranger project I have for the winter.

A nice Dawes resurrected :)

The model was on the crossbar, it will be around 1989/90 Dawes Ultra. It doesn't appear in the later catalogues so it looks like it had a fairly short production run.

Re:

Thanks for that reply. I wasn't sure whether it was just the ultra or whether it had any other model associated with it.

Looks like pretty much the only bit not with it from original manufacture was the seat. Even may have had the original, peeling and dirty handlebar tape!

Re:

I'm also wondering how much a bike like this might be worth now. I'm getting the bug and wanting to just keep buying more bikes to do in different styles and with different setups but if I decide to sell any later on I'm just curious to their value. If you need information on anything that's on there let me know but the majority of the parts are original. I'm not for a second thinking of starting a business, just curious thats all.

Thanks
