fitting modern dual pivots to an old "nutted brake&quot

Ah 8mm hole. I've drilled all the way through the brake bridge before and used the recess fitting of the brake as the sleeve which fitted snuggly and when done up tight kept the brake in place fine.

+1

No problems.

Now I need a 'sleeve' so that I can fit nutted brakes back on! I intend to turn some 'threadless' T-nuts' from aluminium bar but need a short length about 12mm diameter. Drilling the thread out of allen-key fixings doesn't work 'cos they're case-hardened.

ned,
Ive used the brass valve nuts that come with inner tubes before. A bit of filing to the hole and outside surface and its worked.

:?: sorry, don't understand how :?

Being a bit thick I suppose!

Just wondering. Would the inner bit of a chain ring bolt do? The are often up to 10mm long, have a lip and must be about 6mm inside. I use the for spacers for all sorts of jobs. 1 is currently spacing a rear mudguard out from the frame wish bone.

To big, 10mm external diameter and 8mm internal. Thanks for the idea though.
