Hiya
One last dumb-beginner question from me! I'm so close to finishing my project:
I'm fitting a single crankset on a Shimano UN54 bottom bracket
How far down the taper should it slide?
By hand I can get the crankset down 'til the end of the BB Spindle is about 4mm below the recess the crank bolt tightens into - should I use force to make it slide further down? Tentative tightening of the crank bolt didnt seem to move it more than a millimetre further in
I was assured this crankset had a JIS taper by the seller..
Thanks
Chris
EDIT
After posting this I grew a pair and went outside to apply some brute force with an M8 allen key, with surprisingly good results. Chain going on again soon !
Although I did split my lip when the key jumped and I hit the topbar with my face. Not that this will markedly make me any less pretty.
