fitting benotto or other thin tape?

Re:

Only shiny tape for my bars, and Benotto by preference. I bought a job lot of pearl white four years ago from Rusty in Texas, enough to see me out and leave my Cyfac Raleighs all with freshly wrapped bars for my children to ride with!
Always bar end to centre when wrapping, clockwise on right side and anti clockwise left side. As you pull at the bars the tape tightens that way.
Good old friction holds the tape in place and one wrap of electrical tape by the centre section to finish - if I were braver I'd seen ess l it with a cigarette lighter as recommended.
If you're worried about tape coming loose then wrapping tub tape or golfers grip tape first will do the trick. Handy for cobbles too, cushions the bar tape to save your delicate wrists.

Seems the consensus is for bottom to top... I've always done that with modern tape, but remember wrapping benotto top to bottom BITD. one full wrap to start, then tightly wrapped and it doesn't come undone. Finally got mine finished:

Looking great & I always did Benotto tape from the top to the bottom as it looks so much neater without the electrical tape.

Re:

So you'd be pushing a buttplug in rather than wrapping over Benotto's end cap to start the tape.

I like the end cap, it sits nicely against my hand in the drops, and the wrap upwards feels smooth as you move your transposition.

Would you wrap cotton tape top to bottom too? That would catch as you moved your hand.
