First bike ride!

Must be a proud day for any Dad to see their nippers first bike ride
Still remember vividly the first day I rode without stabilisers. Dad had been running behind me up and down the street and holding the back of the saddle as I rode. About 5 runs in I looked behind and he was stood 20 yards back with a huge grin on his face!

Was quite cool when my girls first rode without stabilisers, think the Wife trained them at gunpoint.. same way as she potty trained 'em..

The lad is taking a little longer.. 5 1/2 and he's still floundering :cry:

I learnt to ride on a Raleigh Tomahawk.. on me own.. went to the top of a small incline near home and rolled down it.. was pedalling by the bottom and that was that..

Got my eldest riding without stabilisers by the time he was five and I thought this was slow because my mates kids had all been without stabilisers by 4! My youngest who is 4 next month still can't pedal his bike let alone balance.
When we go to France in a weeks time I will make a concerted effort to get him pedaling.
It's very pleasing and one of the moments in parenting you always remember.

Pickle, probably too late now but a balance bike really is the way to teach them to ride, my youngest never had stabilisers and was riding a pedal bike a full 2 years before his older "stabilised" siblings. He was also doing drop ins at the skate park on his wooden bike when he was 4.

He does look cute though.
