Finally got an LTS...

richbike

Dirt Disciple
LTS 3000 DS Ebay bargain. Seems fairly complete apart a missing trunion bolt.

Spec is below....be interested to know if it looks original.

forks...rockshox indy XC long travel
shock rockshox delux

mechs and shifters STX

Bar and stem Kore (but I stuck XLR8 risers on for comfort)

front wheel Araya tm820 on a GT hub
rear wheel Araya tm820 on STX 8 speed

cranks suntour powerflow (which sounds like one of those toilets)

Couple of questions...anyone know a good Halfords paint match for GT red... bike had some tape round the top tube and its knackered the paint a bit getting it off.

And anyone done a disk conversion to one of these as I fancy giving it a go as I actually want to use the thing.

TIA
RIch

Re:

not sure what the bendy tube does. Bushings all seem in good nick. Can't be said of the forks or shock...I reckon the damping left the garage some years back. Planning to get some disk compatible light forks and make a bracket to fit a fox on the rear.
So TBH it wont end up that retro (that's what the Kona is for)

I love the latter years LTS

One is on my to do list, once the others all get finished. I actually really like the curved seatstay, looks ace. Not sure on purpose, shorter chainstays as wheel tucks in maybe?

Re:

I love my lts to bits headtube has flared and poss cracked ( same colour )

Best thing u can do is find the disc read end on eBay Betd was selling them a while back

Rear shock there's a couple of options for u theres a guy who makes an adapter for a 165 shock ( to much travel tbh) or theres a fox shock that is modded of a cannondale jeckyl which is one of the nicer mods

Re:

Upgrade the forks from indys and run a disc on front. That's where most of your braking is done. Keep v on back.

Yeah Ill probably leave Vs at the rear...I tried an A2Z on my Kilauea some time back and it was pants.
Going to buy something like http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ALUMINIUM-FLA ... 3a949398d6
Then botch in the Fox with SS bolts and spacers. Ill post details when I get a round to-it

Also need to ditch the suntour cranks as they are pretty poor. Afraid Ill probably go hollow-tech to shave some weight off.

And the seat stay is defo bent...I think its the dropout as the wheels 3-4 mm off center at the top (but OK at the front). Some gentle persuasion in the workmate should fix that hopefully.

Any suggestions for forks?

Don't do that to the shock it will ruin the bike and ur tryin to make the frame something it's not

If u want there is a kit that makes a shock fit I can find it but on my iPhone atm and well into a case of beer

Forks 100-130 mm fox or bomber personally and modern on it isn't an issue as that's what I did on mine it's ur bike so use it as such

Re:

yeah I reckon I can make something like that but for a tenner. If its crap Ill buy that ;-)
The game plan is a pretty sorted full sus for less than 250 quid....the bike was 80 so got a few quid left to update the bouncy bits.
Havent had a chance to get out on it much yet but its got s really nice balance to it.
