That's a really great photo, even more so because there was no photo editing beyond what was possible in the dark room. Shadow is stunning and depth of field, composition spot on.

;)

to judge by the shadows, image appears to have been made quite near to high noon

was born in the Los Angeles area & have always puzzled over the exact location

there is a famous oil derrick like that on the campus of Beverly Hills High School, completely wrapped

the land has become so valuable that it may be that none of those buildings are yet standing - demolished to build larger ones

she has always been one of me faves due to her naturalness and realness

everyone reports she was like that in her private life - absolutely no interest in Hollywood "glamour"

Ali MacGraw, taking a break from shooting the tennis-world romance Players (she’s the “older woman” to Paul Dean Martin’s young Wimbledon competitor), rests on her bike basket and contemplates a ride. Or something. The 1979 Paramount release was just MacGraw’s fifth film, and it bombed.

More Dorothy McGuire. Dorothy McGuire in a photo with an accompanying newspaper headline that reads: “A BIKE and a basket are Dorothy’s marketing equipment– and she’s dressed for marketing in her favorite casual costume.” And pretty sure that marketing here means shopping– going to the market. McGuire stars opposite Robert Young in RKO Radio Picture’s romantic fantasy, The Enchanted Cottage, released in 1945. Two years later she’d receive a Best Actress Oscar nomination for Gentleman’s Agreement.

thanks very much!
must be about fifty yar since seeing The Enchanted Cottage on broadcast telly in the U.S. with all the adverts

a charming fantasy about the world the way we'd like it to be

she guest starred in me favourite two-part episode of the telly serie Highway To Heaven where a probationary angel is sent back to earth to help his widow
