Fascist fact of the day.

Daimler-Benz avidly supported Nazism and in return received arms contracts and tax breaks that enabled it to become one of the world's leading industrial concerns. (Between 1932 and 1940 production grew by 830 percent.)
During the war the company used thousands of slaves and forced laborers including Jews, foreigners, and POWs.

According to historian Bernard Bellon (Mercedes in Peace and War, 1990), at least eight Jews were murdered by DB managers or SS men at a plant in occupied Poland.

which I will now have to investigate.....

Highly recommended. Spoof gameshow Numberwang, commercials for discount retailer Didldidi, the boozed-up snooker commentators and hapless winos Sir Digby-Chicken Caesar & Ginger are all an absolute hoot! Oh, and the post-apocalytic gameshow The Quiz Broadcast. Remain indoors! ;)

Not only are Beetles total chick magnets, they also sound beautiful.

There are few engines that have such a cute little clickety clack and raspy chirp chirp. I used to open the quarter lights sitting on the highway at seventy and the mix of fresh air and faint engine noise was intoxicating.

You either get them or you don't, the links with fascism are ironic given the image of the car to many, and the feelings it engenders.

Anyway if you want another fascist fact of the day, it is that our links go deep with many ugly periods in history.

The German people have moved on.

Time to remember but move on.

bmw, built engines to power the Luftwaffe,

Isn't the BMW logo supposed to represent a propeller spinning?

Not sure. The blue & white quadrants were chosen based on the colours used in Bavaria's coat of arms, though.

Good Lord!!

That's a shocker. Could you push it over that grass verge as there seems to be a large drop on the other side.

As for german car badges Mercedes Benz three pointed logo represents Sky,land and sea.
