One of our's is leaving.
Joe is off tomorrow with Mrs Joe (Thurs 20th Dec) and heading for a better place thousands of miles round the globe in NZ.
And I wanted to say goodbye from me and goodbye from us.
It's often that you meet someone out on the trails. Possibly every week. But it's not often that you meet and make a friend. A good friend. And I was fortunate enough to have done just that on that initial Ferrous meets Merlin conversation at a cafe in the middle of the Downs quite a while back.
Joe is an excellent mountain biker. A brilliant moanstopper (always with the positive waves) and a truely great friend and I for one shall miss him. Lots. And I'm sure quite a few of you have ridden with the chap by now and would second those sentiments.
So I'd like to raise an imaginary glass (or real one - depending on when you are reading this) and toast our riding buddy and wish him and Wendy all the best for their new life.
You'll never ride alone.
