Bought a Falcon Phantom as a classic to fix up thinking it was similar to an Ernie Clements design I had in the 70’s. Turns out it is a late eighties cheap mass produced bike made by the Tandem Group in Brigg. Lots of Taiwan components, bars are Italian, wheels Rigida of France, pedals & hubs are Union of Germany, chainset unbranded but made in France. Even the decals are cheap stick-ons.
The frame is heavy and has an adhesive sticker saying ‘770 Tubing’ which I think is a marketing gimmick. Does anyone know where if the frame was UK made or imported?
