Espresso Machine

I use a stove top Moka and an Aeropress at home, mainly with fresh beans and a little electric grinder, we also have a shop Aeropress but I use pre-ground beans as the Company pays.

The Aeropress is a brilliant thing, but I prefer the hot, strong coffee the Moka makes in the Morning.

My significantly better half got me a years subscription to these guys for Christmas: http://www.kopi.co.uk/ - I tend to have blown through the bag in a week, but its nice getting it through the post every month and trying new varietals you perhaps wouldn't normally try.

Personally I haven't had a coffee from one of the smaller/cheaper (<£250) machines that I have liked enough to justify the expense, when I worked in Hotels the Bar I ran had an awesome, very expensive machine which was marvelous, except for the fact that I tended to drink WAY too much coffee.

Top stuff Guys!!! Many Thanks for all the responses! I'm kinda heading in the Moka direction...I've been watching You Tube Videos of it all & maybe it's a good starting point before spending loads & getting consumed by the machine time...

Slightly off topic, but I was in a nice Italian restaurant in Gosforth on Monday night.
I asked for a double espresso to round off a really nice meal.
The waiter brought it - "Double eXpresso sir?". In an Italian restaurant! Aaaaarrrgh!! Really winds me up - read the word - is there an "x" in there?

Is that the Brikka or the Moka? Some not so good reviews about the Brikka as to the Crema it provides & is twice the price...I do like Espress but the person whom this is for kinda likes some frothy milk, latté or Capp style, so I guess I could just froth up some warm milk in a jug with a whisk?...

I have several different sizes of Bialetti depending on the quantity required. As for frothy milk what about one of those Whittards foam whisks?

Although not espresso, do make damn fine coffee.

I've had a Krups espresso machine for 6 years. Used it daily for at least four cups a day and never had a problem.
My favourite (affordable and in plenty of shops) coffee - Lavazza Gold.

Years ago I used to buy Blue Mountain coffee beans - have you seen the price of them now
