Very nice indeed. Why did you decide not to run with the 2x4 forks and use the P2's? Better ride or looks?

Cheers mate its starting to take shape now.

The GT forks are to big for the frame and couldn't bring myself to cut them down, bit of waste of a good fork really that's why there on eBay. The p2's look nice and are a great fork so went with them.

Re: Escaped from evil bay.

I know how you feel about cutting down rarer forks - I have a set of uncut P2s which are too long for the intended project - which is why I was interested in your Pbones.

Re: Escaped from evil bay.

I'd be interested to see what you make of the ride with the P2s on. I had P2s, ATAC stem and a set of braced X-Lite bars on my Pantera and the first time I took it off-road, I had to check all my teeth were in place afterwards. Even road riding was pretty brutal, though you could at least be damn sure all your energy input was going directly into forward motion :)

(The P2s will appear in the 'for sale' section as soon as I get my finger out and work out the postage costs for them)

Re:

Quick update on the Zaskar build and the final spec on the bike.
Finally decided on what parts to use and how the bike will look today and i'm chuffed to bits with it and really looking forward to giving it a shakedown run tonight. Shame though that it'll probably be the only time it'll get ridden because it's pencilled in to be sold to help finish two non konas which really need to be up and running.

I swapped the DX seatpost for a nos XT one and that fits the build lovely also i changed the XT mechs for m900 XTR. Tyres were swapped for Z Max's and i took all the stickers off the wheels and forks for a cleaner look to the bike. For a finishing touch i thought saying Steve Peats my favourite rider and he used to ride for GT,i thought i'd put some lizard skins Peaty grips on,perfect :D

Spec :-
Frame: 91 Zaskar
Forks: Project Twos
Stem: Velocity
Bars: Xlite titanium
Headset: nos Impact
Grips: Peaty lizard skins
Saddle: nos Flite carbon fibre
Seatpost: nos Deore XT
Seatclamp: PZ racing carbon fibre
Shifters: m732 XT top mounts
Front mech: m900 XTR
Rear mech: m900 XTR
Chainset: m730 XT
Brake levers: m900 XTR
Cantilevers: m900 XTR
U-brake: Deore ll
Wheels: 16 spoke Shimano wh-m535 f&r
Tyres: Ritchey Z max

Re:

Very nice, shame it has to go...

Depressingly you're best off stripping straight down after your ride and selling as bits if you need the money.

I know it's a shame to move it on especially after having a quick blast along the wagonway,it's rides really nice. I might have to try it on a longer ride tomorrow purely to see if i'm making a rash decision :D

And yes to the ones who said they're rather stiff,i agree but it certainly can get the power down

Re: Escaped from evil bay. Finished....

Keep it or it'll be one you regret selling. Doing my own Zaskar build at the moment with yours as inspiration ;)

Aye i might have a few rides on it first and enjoy it for a bit before i make a decision,i'll just have to think of something else to sell in the meantime :D

Just been having a look at your Zaskar,it's coming along nicely. Once you get the GT stickers on it'll be mint and definitely a +1 for the big Zaskar sticker on the downtube, you've got to have that on :D

Re:

Well after having a long think what to do with the Zaskar,i've decided to split it and stick it on eBay. It was a great bike to ride and i'm glad i ended up building it instead of leaving it up in the loft going to waste. But i've got more important projects to finish and i need the space,so it's better to move it on instead of sticking it back in the loft.

Re: Escaped from evil bay. Finished....

sigh ... so many un-loved and/or rejected mountainbikes in the world.
