I'm looking at a modern bike to supplement my collection - I'll probably buy new once I can afford it. Last bike I bought new was 2003 so things have changed alot!

Bearing in mind the bamboo bike brigade swear there home made epoxy and hemp fibre joined bikes are as tough as anything out there. Wrap the bb in epoxy soaked fibre cloth of some kind, allow to cure, tidy up and get some more use out of it. Remember to drill both ends of the crack to disappate the stress line first.
I HAVE ZERO ENGINEERING KNOWLEDGE SO IT'S JUST AN OPINION AND I HAVE A FULLY PAID UP DENTAL PLAN SO I MIGHT RISK IT, YOU MIGHT NOT ;-)
