eddy merckx bike identification

Hi, this is my first post here, I just been given an old road bike and was wondering if any one can id it for me or tell me anything about it? thinking about either restoring it or making it a fixed wheel. If you search dorsetmike7 at photobucket i've uploaded some pics

The bike's gas pipe tubing, I'm afraid - nothing to do with the high-end frames built by Merckx's own company. It's a British built bike from the 70s (or possibly very early 80s? Can't remember when they stopped making them). Falcon built them.

It's always worth doing up - it's a perfectly decent bike, just not a thoroughbred! If its components are all knackered then it may not be worth doing much to, but if they're basically serviceable then a good strip and regrease, new cables and brake blocks will make it worth riding, I'm sure.
