Ebay Postage rediculous

I'm looking at a cycling top on ebay - how the f**k can the postage be $29.95US for a bloody cycling top to nz ???

US Ebay sellers really limit their buying audience by the crazy postage costs they offer - given a choice I would always buy out of the UK as the postage is far more reasonable, and stuff is normally here in 4 days - not like the up to 2 weeks from the states

rant rant etc etc :o

OZ and NZ are always really expensive to ship. Suprisingly so.

I always list a price a bit higher than I expect to be, and refund the difference. That said, they could just be using a lazy calculator.

This happened all of a sudden.

I was ordering some K2 seals for my Girvin forks, listed postage to the UK was $14. When I placed the order for two sets of seals, they came back with a combined postage charge of $104 ($52 pr packet). Needless to say, I cancelled the order and found a bike shop in the US who was happy to send me the kits for about $15.

Not sure what the game is, but it seems a lot of ebay.com stuff now has ridiculously high postage.

Talking of stoopid postage bart (stumpjumper1990) bought some forks off the bay and the seller wouldnt post abroad so he had them sent to me. Have to admit I was expecting postage to be rather steep couriers were asking quite a bit so popped to the local P.O. Imagine my suprise when they said £7.50 air mail  . Around half what others were asking. Cost the original seller £4.90 to send them to me.

UK postage overseas is based on size. Someone asked me to help, when they could not get a Team Cagiva pit umbrella sent to them in the US. I spoke to my local PO, and sure enough, it was too long!

Had a courier take it in the end, and the buyer paid from the US.

Is it a scam by US Post? or is it the fact that some sellers are just lazy? I can send a reasonable size package to the US (bit smaller than a shoe box) for about $20 NZ - which is about $16 US - and yet the same package the opposite way is more than twice the price,

Crazy thing was that the top I was looking at was at a shop! :?

Don't even ask about Canada Post (someone has to pay for their corporate skybox at the Rogers Centre).
