Story is this...sold something on e-bay recently, goods posted and received but no payment. In my haste to post i didnt check if he had paid, there is only £25 at stake but even so!! :( Just suppose the guy has pulled a fast one and cancelled his paypal account do I have any way of getting the money Im owed, through ebay/paypal?

Any feedback on this would be helpful, cheers

Erm,might be a bit late but never post something out until its paid for/cheque cleared in your account etc.In your position all you can do is contact the buyer and try to sort it out.

Tricky one that...I guess all you can do is speak to the buyer to sort it out...if he doesn't pay then I guess kiss goodbye to £25. I would start a non-payment dispute (with Ebay) if that was the case, at least he would then get some negative 'feedback'. :?

Depends on how honest the buyer is,send him an email via your listing and inquire that you still haven't received your payment, try to leave the ball in his court and dont get mad[at least not yet]
If he tells you its sent/paid,ask for proof/receipts
If he says f* off or whatever, then threaten dispute and or legal proceedings

As an E-bay member he's still very traceable to the authority's if it comes to that  Chances are he's hoping you've forgotten
A gentle prodding should get you your payment
Incidentally how many feedback sales did he have?
if its a fair number,it points to him hoping you forgot[Chancers Everywhere  ] and he'll cough up sharpish

A seller sent me an expensive makita piece of kit 'before' he'd got my payment about 80 quid,
just as well for him honesty was beaten into me as a child

I sent him a stern letter of chastisement

I'll never understand the idea that the goods shouldn't be sent off until funds have cleared. Surely these days there are more cases of hooky gear and false adverts on eBay than dodgy buyers? I've bought plenty of stuff from eBay, only to have it arrive and wish I'd not shelled out. Usually this ends up costing me money to send the goods back to the seller.

The same goes for the feedback rating system. If you're buying something, it is rare that a seller will leave you any feedback until after you're left him something flattering. That's despite not trusting m enough to send the goods off until you got my money in the first place! I held up my side of the bargain - bid up the price, paid immediately, kept you informed when it arrived. Now it turns out that the item is a fake or broken, so I let people know through the feedback system. As punishment, I get negative feedback too (no longer possible) or none at all, despite doing nothing wrong.

In many years of trading on eBay, one thing I've learnt is to email the other person and try to resolve anything first, without the help of Paypal or eBay themselves - because they will be hopeless. They do have a number you can call now though - 020 8080 2105.
